Got home last night. Planned on packing and doing last minute things today. Seems like everything takes forever to do!
At the last minute I decided I needed a power back up for my kindle. What if I can't get to any electricity? All my reading material is on my Kindle! I ordered one from amazom and they had it in my hands in less than 24 hours! So that is good! I think I have about 16 books on my Kindle, that should last for the trip.
We just decided to drop the Sodo Hospital part of our mission in Ethiopia. Instead we will stay in the capitol and do training there. We invited the person we were to train at Sodo for Samaritans Purse to Addis for training. It makes more sense for one person to come to us where we can train many, than for us to travel to one person and be limited on how many we can impact. We just were getting uneasy about the Sodo trip, they kept throwing last minute requests at us to bring them things and we were beginning to feel used and abused. So after some prayer we made the change and feel much better about the plan.
Every one of my bags is already overweight by 1 to 3 pounds, so we will see how that goes! You never know exactly until you get to the counter at the airport what your bags weigh. We will have to go through the weighing process 6 times on this trip. I haven't counted how many times we will deal with customs yet. They always give our dental supplies some interesting looks. So far we have not had to deal with any demands for bribes or duty. Ethiopia charges 100% duty on things you bring in, if they feel like it. They charged our friend $1000 to bring in his video projector. They promised to give it back when he took it back out of the country, they did, but they did not make it easy either.
You can tell I am stressed. Hopefully that will all leave as soon as I sit on the first plane and know nothing else is in my control from there on out! Just go with the flow.
More later.
Love You All, Janet
